Some half cells show negative Open circuit voltage (OCV)?

Sometimes before charge/discharge Li ion half cells do measure negative OCV open circuit voltage ( ~ -1.5 V). It's very rare but did came across some of the cells. Could you please share your opinion and help me understand the cause for it?. Any chemical reaction before charge/discharge of a cell?
