Monsoon season rainfall is very vital for India in all respect. Overall growth of the country is highly dependent on monsoon season rainfall. While the monsoon season rainfall has become erratic in last few decades, studies have shown that there is no long-term trend in monsoon season rainfall. But year 2013 was exceptional when many weather related events like heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand, large number of depressions/cyclones in Bay of Bengal and many westerly systems (WDs) in winter season happened in India. The snowfall in this winter (2013-2014) in Indian region is also one of the heaviest. Overall Northern Hemisphere has experienced many weather phenomena this winter (breaking of polar vortex, unprecedented cold temperatures in USA, catastrophic storms and floods in UK etc). How this all will translate in affecting Asian summer monsoon, particularly over India?
