Amine's will give you terrible peak's unless you use a column suited for them

kris wolfs: I am using stabilwax DB column which is specific to trimethylamine. Please give me the condition of GC for the analysis.

I have not much experience with amine's. We used the European Pharmacopeia methode for the control of residual solvents on one occasion. This is a headspace based method on a non base modified wax column ( in contrast with your stabilwax) . The result was disappointing.

Make sure that your sample pathway (liner, retention gap,...) are also base deactivated
