I would like to synthesize bisphenol melate resin in the lab. But I don't know what kind of catalyst I do need. Can anyone help? Is it possible to synthesize directly bisphenol-melate resin or do we first have to make its epoxy and then go to the next step?

Lewis acids and amines are usually used for epoxy synthesis. Also it is possible to perform polymerization without catalysts. Regards
Many reactions catalyzed by a heterogeneous catalyst follow kinetics that show a reaction order that changes with conversion. This change in observed order with conversion is an artifact of the equilibrium adsorption isotherm. The isotherm depends upon the interaction between the surface and the adsorbate molecules. Some types of reactions obey first order intrinsic kinetics, such as isomerizations, and other reactions, such as olefin metathesis reactions, show intrinsic second order kinetics. Therefore, pseudo second order reactions would be characteristic of reactions that are intrinsically second order, and so forth.
