What types of restructuring processes are used to implement improvements in production logistics or other logistics areas, such as distribution logistics, supply logistics, transport logistics, etc.?
Our experience in Colombia with the use of Lean Healthcare has been really successfull in the improvement of logistic processes at hospitals. We have been using this powerfull, and at the same time, simple tool as a learning platform for nurses, medical doctors and administrative staff in areas such as urgencies, maintenance of equipments, hospitalisation and so on. By the way, a really prolific but demanding tool has been the use of Discrete Event Simulation (DES).
We can be sure that in almost any logistic field, the mix of Lean and DES can be a rewarding strategy for the improvement.
The processes are improved or re-engineered. So far (as far as my knowledge goes) restructuring is used for organizations.
Re-engineering is a rather drastic modification of the process, while improvement has methodologies and techniques and also alternatives like eliminate, combine, modify etc. But primarily it is analytical work and can be carried out through PDCA and/or DMAIC.
Value stream mapping ; process flow diagrams, why/why analysis and other tools of quality are also very beneficial.
Any improvement tool and brain storming can be used for improvements and for re-engineering.
Dear Segun Michael Abegunde, Edgar Duarte-Forero, Virendra kumar Gupta, Hermann Gruenwald, Thank you very much for the sent suggestions of interesting topics, research issues, etc. related to issue types of restructuring processes are used to improve production logistics. Your statements confirm that the above-mentioned issues are current and developing.
Thank you very much and best regards, Have a nice day,
Dear Dr. Dariusz Prokopowicz in my opinion using up to date advanced technology and materials would be the best in different fields and aspects which always push toward production improvement.
Also, I found good sources for your subject and one is attached here, the other is in the link below:
Yes, that's right. The constantly improved and implemented Industry 4.0 technology is an important element in the process of improving production logistics.
The SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) coronavirus pandemic, through its impact on economic processes in many production companies, accelerated the development restructuring processes implemented through the implementation of new Industry 4.0 technologies, including the use of smart technology, the Internet of Things, learning machines, robotics, artificial intelligence, cloud computing etc. and improvement of production logistics. Currently, many production companies are creating platforms that enable the implementation of team engineering projects implemented in the form of remote work and with the use of the so-called. digital twins of specific designed production processes, complex product designs, multi-stage technological, manufacturing, production processes, etc.
