Another questions:
In the pdf attached, it is possible to find that the solvent indicated to successful assembly is 200 proof ethanol, but in order to achieve good assembly, it is necessary to adjust the pH to 2. Is it possible to adjust the pH of a 200 proof ethanol to 2?
Instead of storage the noble metal/SAM with dry nitrogen, I will use negative pressure, in a chamber, with 200 proof ethanol in a petri dish to create an ethanol atmosphere. Can the negative pressure negatively influence the result?

There seem to be some errors in this datasheet. They obviously mean that carboxyl groups should be protonated by strong acid, and amines should be deprotonated with base (not NH4Cl, but aqu. NH3). pH is not defined in any of these solutions and should not be used in this context. Anyway, I am not convinced that these steps are necessary for a good SAM.
