It is quite disheartening for some journal reviewers who displays unethical behaviors while reviewing articles. We all know it is not within the perview of article reviewing ethics for any reviewer to suggest his personal work to be cited before recommending for acceptance. Especially, when they are totally or directly not related, just for the citation sake. Some authors do go by their suggestions just to get their work accepted which is very bad. This unprofessional practice is increasing nowadays amongst many reviewers and authors. Besides, the most disturbing and alarming practice is the rejection of articles by some reviewers just to become part of it. I have seing a situation whereby a reviewer rejected an article with a routine and general comments, and then wrote an email asking the author to consider him in the article to improve and re-submit the same. In my opinion, if such an article has no novelty then why is he/she asking for collaboration? This happens mostly in journals who does not practice a blind review as such the reviewer have the opportunity to know the authors via their contact details. The question is What an author suppose to do in both cases if confronted? Thank you in anticipating your valuable suggestions and possible remedies to this lingering problems.
