I am currently working on my bachelor thesis and struggle with a concept.
The goal of the thesis is to analyse the potential benefits and risks for a data exchange Platform for SMEs in the wood supply chain.
My strategy way to conduct a „literature review“ to find potential use cases in both the wood industry but also potential applications from other sectors that can be adopted.
Additionally, I would like to conduct Semi-structured Interviews with industry experts to validate/invalidate the findings and extend the knowledge pool.
My question now is, what kind of methodology is that? I often read that a literature review is not a methodology but what else is it called.
I would appreciate any advice on how such research Design is called or can be adjusted to fit the project goals.

your data gathering method could be deep interview and your methodology could be qualitative methodology. your method could be one of available methods such as Delphi method or theme analysis
you can study these two methods to find which one fits you. your data gathering method, could be used in several qualitative methods. these are only two examles

Depending on how extensive the "cases" are that you present are, this might be considered an application of "vignettes" in qualitative interviews. Whatever the format for your presentation is, you will need to do a literature review to prepare for it, and that is not a method in itself.
David L Morgan but there most be specific term for considering existing literature/ articles that are available and validate/ extend the findings by conducting expert interviews?
From my understanding there is a difference between a literature review (as it considers similar related works) and browing literature to find possible Use cases for a topic.
You are doing two separate things: using the literature to consider how you might generate data, and then conducting interviews that are your data.
You would use interviews and surveys using Likert Scales and analyse with Chi square tests. That is the methodology. The literature review is an introduction to your topic, how recent research applies to your study, your hypotheses and how you intend to answer them :)
Yannick Mismahl, you can adopt a scoping review methodology. Scoping reviews are a form of systematic literature review that allows for the incorporation of interview or focus group data from experts into the review results. Please have a look at the following references for useful tips.
