I have noticed in several articles in Education that they don’t use a special theoretical framework for studying teacher attitudes, however I consider it is important to analyse the data based on a theoretical framework. I have realised that most of the studies in the field of medicine use the theory of planned behaviour for studying the link between attitudes and behaviour. I wonder if this theoretical framework can be used for studying only attitudes towards teaching science and not the relation between attitudes and behaviour ?

On the other hand, I found a new theoretical framework for studying teacher attitudes toward teaching science developed by van Aalderen-Smeets, S. I., Walma van der Molen, J. H., & Asma, L. J. F. (2012). This framework fits well to my research, but the framework hasn’t been widely used. What should I do? I have heard that it is supposed to use widely acceptable frameworks when we do research.

Note: my interview questions fit well for both theoretical frameworks. And I intend to do a qualitative research.
