I am using certain IFS variables in my research, particularly "Supplementary Items, Direct Investment, Net Incurrence of Liabilities (Excluding Exceptional Financing), US Dollars" and "Supplementary Items, Portfolio Investment, Net Incurrence of Liabilities (Excluding Exceptional Financing), US Dollars". I see that these values are in US Dollars but there is no indication of if they are in constant or current US Dollars. Does anybody know if these values are constant or current. If they are constant, what year are the values pegged to?
IMF is an American related firm thus it pegs its funds in US Dollars. And I am imagining in terms of foreign exchange a US Dollar compared to a US Dollar would be constant. It would only then fluctuate if compared to other foreign currencies. Probably you may try to compare the Dollar to other currencies like the EURO or British Pound if you wish to determine its current value worldwide.
