Comparisons stand for similarities and contrasts stand for dissimilarities or opposites or what is not similar. They can be found in the societal norms, genre, form, figures of speech, settings, and vocabulary of the poem. Do you agree? I'd look at the poetic line itself--Pope loved meter, and his use of variance askance the dominant iamb is almost always thematically significant--i.e. the ways in which Pope uses contrasting beats in-line to focus on specific image concepts and then, subsequently, normalizes the lines/beats to re-establish metrical flow. (To achieve background and foreground fields; that is, metrically.) A bit mundane, perhaps, but worth a look, I think, if you're serious at interrogating the relation between poetic form and poetic message in Pope. Good luck.
If you're a fan of scansion, go ahead and find out the changes in each canto based on the narrative. Pope's images need more attention _ Belinda's face like the sun when the cross sparkles on her neck. Reality and fantasy are contrasted too. Greek epic forms and myths have been tailored to fit something asinine. Behind all this lies the lack of morality during the time. Best of luck!
