I'm currently trying to isolate nanocellulose from sugarcane bagasse. After obtaining cellulose (white), I'd hydrolyzed cellulose into 58% v/v sulfuric acid with cellulose to acid ratio of 1:10 at 45 °C for 80 minutes under strong stirring. After stopping the hydrolysis through pouring cold distilled water, the suspension is brown/dark brown. Does this mean I've managed to get CNC? Or do I supposed to get a white colour suspension?
