I am going to detect Alendronate trihydrate by uv-visible. For calibration curve I made 5 concentration of alendronate in PBS. Alendronate solution will be mix with iron chloride solution in percholoric acid.
My question is what should I use as blank?
Hi there,
A blank may have all the components excluding the one you are going to detect. If I am getting you right, you are analyzing only one compound. So the two solvents you are using and iron(III) chloride may be taken as blank so they don't interfere in your reading regarding the sample compound.

Alendronate can not be detected by uv_visible. For its detection it should make complex with iron (lll). Now I am confused what should I use as blank
PBS or perchloric acid
Mixture of both in the same concentration as in the final reaction mixture.
