I noticed that ASTM D3039 Tensile test standard mentions the E122 and it says the E122 document (https://www.astm.org/Standards/E122.htm). This has a link to the ASTM document for "Practice for Calculating Sample Size..." This I am hoping had details to confirm if your samples are able to be tested at their current sizes.

I also checked that both ASTM D 6641 and ASTM D 7264 reference E122 is listed for both under each under the Referenced Documents section for additional ASTM Standards. If you already have access then no additional cost.

So The E122 document I would say is important to confirming if the sample sizes are acceptable. Good luck.

Please do correct me if I am wrong but E122 deals with the statistical sample size, not the sample size mentioned in the question.

In D3039, there is a requirement for the minimum length that shall be at least 2 times the width of the sample+ gripping+gauge length. I haven't come across any thickness limitations in ASTM though. I would say your specimens seem to be ok for tensile testing.

To double-check, I skimmed through the corresponding ISO standard, ISO 527-4. It indicates that the thickness shall be 2-10 mm for rectangular specimens. So the thickness of your specimens is still fine.

"ASTM D3039 specimens are rectangular in shape with a constant cross-section. The minimum length of the specimen is equal to the total gripping length + 2 x width + gauge length, but greater lengths are recommended in order to minimize bending stresses."
