Global steel production is dependent on coal – around 70% of total global steel production relies directly on inputs of coal. Around 1 billion tonnes of coal are used in global steel production, which is around 14% of total coal consumption worldwide.
As of December 2011, coal is estimated to provide 29.6% of global primary energy needs and generate 42% of the world's electricity, with the bulk being mined in-country, often in close proximity to power stations. China, the U.S. and the European Union all boosted their consumption of coal in 2010, as global use of coal advanced 7.6 %, and global energy consumption advanced at the fastest pace since 1973.
While power generation accounts for the bulk of coal consumption, approximately 14% (approximately 1 billion tonnes) is used for iron and steel production.
The use of coal for product power not way economicaly for stats and co2 critical grow
The world needed to change in all level energy conversion for sustainble development so we researchers should this start the study for renewbles energy to help the world without pallution and enhancment CO2
