Dear colleagues,

Intuition and practitioner experience as a sustainability expert for supplier management in the automotive industry tells me that the number of supplier sustainability audits is increasing. Sustainability assessment service providers like Sedex and Ecovadis as well as SGS etc proclaim the ten's of thousands of audits conducted. Authors such as Richard M. Locke and Genevieve LeBaron make convincing cases questioning the effectiveness of such audits, but also admit an increase in the frequency of audits as a tool for sustainability in supply chain management (SSCM).

However, I'm yet to come across an academic or thorough quantitative portrayal of this supposed growth. I'd be very grateful for hints.

Thanks in advance,

Iain
