I am working with a group that wants to carefully differentiate qualitative versus quantitative survey research based upon primary characteristics of the survey instrument, how it is analyzed and how interpretations are formulated. I am familiar with one difference being based upon quantitative surveys establishing frequencies, means or other parameters while a more qualitative survey approach focuses on meaningful variation within repondents based upon relevant dimensions and/or values...but I think there must be more in the design and implementation. Any further suggestions are appreciated.
