Hello all,
As most or probably all of you who teach lectures–besides conducting research–we have been working away from students. My question is, what platform are you using for online lectures?
I am using Google Classroom for organizing work, but don't know how to give an actual (video) class where students can join live and ask questions, etc.
I have never liked relying on PowerPoint presentations so most of my lectures are on the actual whiteboard, just supported by a few slides when charts need to be shown, so I basically wanted to continue with live classes.
Will I have to record videos? Or, is there a live platform that performs well and 20-25 students can join in? Preferably that I can see them too. Is that too much to ask given the circumstances i.e., with a MacBook, a videocamera and home internet? I have applied for a Cisco Webex account but given the demand it will take some time and I don't know if students will be able to use it.
Any help?

In China, most universities are using QQ, and Feishu. Available on Android and iOS.
Online discussion boards are useful for enabling interactions which are absent due to the absence of contact sessions. Journals and blogs also enable online learning experiences.
Samy, I just had a live lecture using zoom and also got my Cisco WebEx account. Which is better? I read that WebEx is more efficient in using available bandwidth

Only last week we started employing Zoom to interact with students. Tomorrow I have a pilot Zoom lecture and will share the experience with you and Colleagues.
Thanks! I've been using Zoom for.some lectures and it works quite well, I haven't had any problems at all.
I just need to get to know the software to more detail. I want to somehow integrate live sessions with Google Classroom (at the moment I'm announcing lecture reminders and uploading recordings of live lectures to Google Classroom).
You may use MS Teams. I have also tried Cisco Webex but personally prefer MS Teams because in MS Teams attendees details are visible to all and very easy to share the presentation slides. Hope this helps.
