Perhaps comparable in scope to Newtonian mechanics is thermodynamics, though in some sense thermodynaics might be considered to be based on Newtonian mechanics, being the study of atoms and molecules in motions consistent with Newton's mechanics, with an added statistical component by way of statistical mechanics.
I would call it "Classical Mechanics" because it only started with Newton who certainly gave the largest contribution to gravitation.
In classical mechanics there was not a chasm between dynamics and gravitation but the force and energy were a good unification tools...
where is gravitation? POincarè invariance is lost in that case.
On the contrary, Lorentz Electrodynamics is an extension of classical mechanics to electromagnetism not in conflict with Newtonian Gravitation or the results of General Relativity.
