I would like to measure ultra trace level potassium content in high Na (50%) samples. Both metals are in alkali groups so separation may also be difficult. In NAA sodium is contributing more compton background. Kindly suggest the method that can be used to estimate 40K content in high sodium samples.

If you want to do Gamma-ray counting, you have to highly shield your probe to decimide your underground. And you need lots of patience.

Liquid scintillation counting (LSC) method can be used since 40K emit 89.3% of beta. LSC can measured radiation from beta-emitting radioactive isotopes. Hope this will help.
