What metering devices are used nowadays for substation automation ?

I'm working in a project about energy monitoring for an MV substation, and I want to know the recent substation automation criteria in the industry like siemens company, ... etc. So that I can know what kind of devices and equipment used for substation automation.

If anyone can provide me with good articles from journals related to my question, I will appreciate that.
