Yes maybe Anthony. It may be that there is a need for us to speculate about life beyond our own, and that life may well exist across the cosmos. Exciting to believe that one day we may well be able to travel to the far flung reaches of the galaxy. However, not in our lifetime... sadly.

I think it is the curiosity that has accompanied humans since the beginning of creation. Man is curious by nature, so he usually unleashes his imagination to believe in many supernatural phenomena, and this is what prompted science fiction and paranormal stories to imagine many phenomena and events... Given that you as a scientist will never have direct access to details of contents of the mind of (human) beings other than yourself, you will never be able to scientifically compare the details of contents of your own mind with that of other (human) beings.... This also implies that the functioning of this world is principally based on believing or not believing what other (human) beings express (gestures, behaviour, vocalisations, etc...) and to correlate via education these expressions of other (human) beings with the self-experiences you as a scientist had yourself....

Why we are proving that there are extra-terrestrials. Whereas, the sky still one.

Perhaps, its a way of giving our lives some added purpose. It is possibly about one's capacity to believe in and feel that we have a higher purpose, a sense of living, providing some added meaning in our lives, which may also of course assist us in fantasizing about the cosmos whilst escaping the normal, mundane and boring earthly routines...

The human being needs to relate to a superior or spiritual facet, and this belief manages to occupy that place in certain people, although religions may consider that these aliens were created by God, if they existed.
