I am running a hyperelastic material simulation with high degree of rotation. i was trying to simulate it with adaptive meshing. I have setup a ALE adaptive meshing domain and changed the element type to C3D8RH. the simulation are having this error:
THE ADAPTIVE MESH REGION CONTAINS ZERO ELEMENTS. PLEASE ENSURE THAT VALID ELEMENT TYPES COMPATIBLE WITH THE ADAPTIVE MESH FEATURE WAS SELECTED.
I have also tried C3D4, C3D10 and C3D20. the same error still popup. does anyone know how to solve this?

Hi Zheng,
While modelling hyper-elastic materials, it is important to increase load in very small steps. I would recommend you instead of using adaptive meshing, use regular mesh and give the load increment to the model in very-very small steps .

I propose reading below description from Abaqus analysis user's manual.
An adaptive mesh domain can contain only first-order, reduced-integration, solid elements. All elements within an adaptive mesh domain must have the same geometry (all two-dimensional, three-dimensional, axisymmetric, or plane strain, etc.). Since adaptive mesh domains are split across element types, degenerate elements should be used for mixed domains that include both triangles and quadrilaterals (or tetrahedron and bricks). All elements other than first-order, reduced-integration, solid elements—including mass, rotary inertia, and infinite elements—are nonadaptive. These elements can be connected to an adaptive mesh domain, but their nodes are nonadaptive. All nodes and elements on a rigid body are nonadaptive. Rebar are not supported within an adaptive mesh domain.

do you think from 0 to 1 with 10 steps will be efficient for the increment?

Hi Zheng,
No, it should be in the order of 0 to 1 with 100 steps (at first). If it is still failing try 1000 steps. This depends alot on stress-strain behaviour of material.
