- Assessing students' sentiments towards the use of a Building Information Modelling (BIM) learning platform in a construction project management course
I suggest to stay away from teaching software applications, especially commercial ones. For me BIM is a great source for data and integration with other digital systems. However, students are trained with lack of knowledge how to utilize and process the data contained in standard ifc format of BIM files. Therefore, I am more biased to the computational aspects of BIM education. I can suggest two sources which can be useful to understand the data content in ifc files. First, open source BIMServer provides a great API layer to manage the user, project and BIM (ifc) data. It is pretty. It is not a design of CM tool, but just provides a server environment which can be hosted in cloud or local environments. Second, IfcOpenShell is a great open source python-based library which you can parse the ifc files and do all sorts of things with the data extracted from ifc files. Links are the followings:
