Hello everyone,

Generally. for measuring spectral coherence by Michelson interferometer set up, delay is employed between the two arms which is corresponds to the pulse period such that successive pulse can overlap together and make interference pattern. For MHz repetition rate, the delay corresponds to some (micrometre) um path difference between the arms. But, for pulse with KHz repetition rate this will be correspond to some Km range which is difficult to provide unless we use optical fiber to ensure the delay. Now, if the delay is provided such that it becomes very low or almost zero and is less than the pulse period, then, what kind of coherence will I get by the interference pattern which will be generated through overlapping of the spectrum from the two arms of Michelson set up. Or is it mandatory to provide delay corresponds to pulse period so that successive pulse can overlap?
