The SEM image of the surface without inhibitor shows maximum corrosion products depicting rough surface than the one with the inhibitor. The reduction in corrosion products with the inhibitor depicts smooth surface with less Corrosion products. Thus depicting good inhibitory action or anticorrosion property towards penetration of the corrosion inducing elements on to the surface.
A tip from me: isolate an area on the samples from the electrolyte (e.g. impermeable adhesive tape) and compare this with the exposed areas in the SEM (morphology, corrosion products, local changes, etc.). Then look for differences.

with a SEM equipped with an EDAX microprobe you can perform both morphological and chemical analyzes relating to the characterization of the surface of your samples, after exposure in free corrosion.
Generally it is better to make comparisons, as well as with a sample not treated with an inhibitor, also by varying the concentrations of the inhibitor and / or the time of exposure to the aggressive solution.
Both the distribution of the inhibitor and the type of corrosion you experience (eg corrosion formation of localized attacks) can provide you with extremely useful information.

In this context, SEM without EDS detector can give limited useful information (limited only in terms of morphology and topology) yet try to see the difference at grain boundaries.
SEM with EDS detector can definitely bring useful insight.
Moreover, in case you have access to XPS facility, it will add valuable inputs to research results.
SEM with EDS detector can definitely bring valuable insight.
Besides, you can choose AFM, STM or TEM to observe more useful information.
