We would like to publish the an analytical method we developed specifically for targeting some compounds in produced water from oilfields. These compounds are not pollutants and they are the base for a reservoir characterization tool. We have doubts as to the journal to target considering the scope of the work, so advice would be greatly appreciated.
It sounds like 'Energy & Fuels' or 'Journal of Petroleum Science and Engineering' could be suitable.

Maybe the "Journal of Chemical Engineering & Process Technology" or "Journal of Petroleum Science and Engineering" may also be suitable.
Fuel should be a good journal. But it depends on the contents.
So rephrase your abstract, which can reflect the significant outcome of this work and identify the appropriate keywords.
Based on this, use Elsevier service (journal finder), and choose the respective journal. This is good way, I personally prefer, as this procedure gives you lot of options (benefits) like, journal impact factor, acceptance ratio, review speed, processing speed and few more metrics..
As a researcher, these metrics matter us a lot..
