Bloom's Taxonomy is an educational tool developed by Benjamin S. Bloom (1913-1999), which ranks the relative cognitive complexity of various educational objectives. Recently, there is a great interest shown by some Universities in following Bloom's Taxonomy in creating test questions and assignments.

Bloom's taxonomy of cognitive skills:

  • Knowledge
  • Comprehension
  • Application
  • Analysis
  • Synthesis
  • Evaluation

Can you give your views on setting exam questions based on testing the above six cognitive skills?

Best wishes
