Paul it depends if you focus more on CNS inflammation, remyelinantion/myelin protection, axon de- and regeneration or protection of the neuronal soma. Models for all of these processes are available. Cuprizone and lysolecithin models are commonly used to study remyelination, models with massive macrophage/microglia inflammation in cortex, spinal cord or optic nerve are great models to study pathological activation of these cells in focal EAE models. Axon degeneration, axon regeneration and axon protection can be studied in optic nerve injury models, SCI models, and focal EAE models. Many EAE models enable neuroprotective analysis.
