Not only in Veterinary colleges, but animal trial is required in many research institutions. Before starting of any trial on animals, they should be made accustomed with the living environment. Otherwise, study result will be influenced in many cases.

So, laboratory animal house should be considered a must along with Institutional Animals Ethics Committee in those laboratories.

In future, some models may perform the works of animal trial.

Till then, this should be the practice.
