Lately, I have been thinking much about the relationship between working practical tasks, on the one hand, and doing scientific research, on the other. What is your experience..?
Most importantly, does protraction of patterns of practical work impair seeing things through the eyes of science? In other words, does group dynamics positively or negatively influence the application of academic skills?
Thorsten - could you clarify what you see as the difference between 'practicing' (practical tasks - ? related to research) and 'doing' research?
Extra efforts and time needs to be spent in order to do research activities
Both at the undergraduate and especially the grad students indicated that my extensive clinical experience focused on practice matters and not theoretical ones. Most told me that my experience separated me from other faculty.
