With this new boom of the industry, the “Labour force” factor too has emerged simultaneously and the term “Skilled Labour Force” has become vital ever than before. The shortage of skilled labour has been identified as a major drawback in the construction field and it directly impacts the competition internationally. On the other hand, many factors are identified as the causes for this matter and mitigation of the problem is also becoming crucial in order to maintain the momentum of the construction industry.
Dinesh Suranga Pathirana , Very significant discussion! I think it more depends on the policy makers and the government of course. For example, in Malaysia they decided to take both foreign labor and capital where the preferred to take unskilled labor because of cheap cost. Thus, they have tremendously taken a smart decision for their economy. As far as I know, they do not prefer foreign skilled workers but on the contrary they are inviting more foreign unskilled labors.

Debaamita Dey Nayon, Exactly I agreed on your argument, and government must have proper mechanism on converting unskilled labor to skill labor in order to reach their economic goals.
The situation is similar in many industries, e.g. in road transport. The world seems to be moving towards greater mechanization and automation, as well as the implementation of new technologies to facilitate construction work. An example is the production of finished building elements.
