The traditional mechanisms for dissemination of research are professional conference presentations and peer-reviewed journal articles, but the Internet has certainly provided several additional options. Many researchers are utilizing tweets and blogs to share research summaries, and other online tools like RG are also available.
My institution is research intensive rather than extensive, so there are fewer supports to disseminate research, but I did notice that a collaborative project I worked on with a colleague at an R-1 school received a great deal of attention by the institution's marketing department in the form of a detailed press release. I would consider this dissemination as well.
You need to explain how you will tell people about your project this includes conference papers, journal articles, books and book chapters, but also general promotion of your project's outputs. Dissemination could include, for example, writing a press release about your results/findings It might include getting involved with local/national professional bodies, NGOs, or relevant governments. You ca also run workshops to tell people about your results. It really depends o what the results are and who the target audience are. Good luck.
