Mr. Trump is struggling to develop an economic agenda as private business and public economy seem to be like fire and water. Your question is actually asking for a prediction about this presidency; reviving a national economy in an age of extreme global competition is surely possible ! However, neither the masterminds of this administration nor the `CEO` has a clear-cut economic strategy for this purpose, i.e. a further decline of the US economy will happen, due to a lack of applied economic wisdom. Business can never be equated with the economy. The global race to the bottom can be stopped, if we will focus on new job creation, higher wages for labor, affordable housing, social protection against life risks, and less central planning agency (e.g. manipulating the taxation machinery). Mr. Trump is still in the game; let us hope for the best outcome of this learning experiment.

In the policy of "job protection," Trump make some changes and definitely shift in attitudes towards the most powerful American companies, such as Ford, General Motors, Toyota, Boeing, Lockheed Martin and United Technologies / Carriera . The main motto of his  campaign materials and a narrow economic doctrine is : Why is a  everything in America made  in China, Mexico and etc .... it must be made in U.S.

The key problem here is the thing that many MNC s dislocated their business oversees because they are economically motivated to run business where is most affordable for them and thus provide the best / lowest price of products to Americans and other customers across the world.... Now is it possible to force many U.S. MNCs to make "(in)economical motivated decisions" and back their business to home.....
