Ming's way is popular and recommended by many users but abaqus recommend 2 other ways too:
1- Selecting individual components if applicable.
2- Using field output instead of history output and then using Visualization module to extract data. i.e. In cases where large amounts of history output are required, it is recommended that the data be written to the output database (.odb) as field output from which history data can be extracted using the Visualization module of Abaqus/CAE.
