This is a fairly large volume of literature and indicates the enthusiastic support of the research funding agencies in this area. How does the volume of research in this area compare with the industrial activity in this area? What is the value of all the 3D printed /AM manufactured products sold per year in recent years?

I can't answer your question but I think right now the industrial activity of this area cannot compare with research in AM. Because it is still in development phase, but it is getting popular.
