Eimeria maxima is a protozoal parasite that causes coccidiosis in poultry. Anticoccidial drugs and/or vaccines along with hygienic measures and improved farm management are used to prevent and control the disease in poultry. Live vaccines are available as well and are used alternating with drugs in successive flocks.
