Hi dear scientists and experts,

I have a question for all of you. I am working with ticks and I am using 16S rRNA and COI standard genetic markers for the identification of ticks (Arthropods). I got some sequences that based on the 16 S rRNA marker showed 95% (percent identity) similarity with the other relative species, however; using COI they showed 91% similarity. Note: in both cases, the query coverage is 100%. Furthermore, 16S rRNA is relatively conservative as compared to COI. So can you please guide me on should we consider whether this is a new subspecies or a new clade? If this seems like a new clade etc what kind of other analysis should I need to perform? Your kind response would be highly appreciated. Thanks

Regards

Jehan
