In India, tiil date only GM cotton has been authorized as cultivation by goverment and that too for insect pest only.BGI and BGII (BOLL GUARD versions for Helicoverpa, spodoptera and Earia sp), through CRY 1AC and Cry 2AB.
However for even RR Flex ,there is no permission to cultivate any round up ready crop of cotton.
Apart from that all research on other GM crops like brinjal, soybean, rapeseed mustard, corn has got only initial evolution at controlled labs but not permitted for any field trials so far. There permission for cultivation like GM cotton seems difficult in near future in India.
This might not be applicable to India but here in Africa like South Africa, Sudan and Kenya are the leading countries so far in the adoption of GMO maize, GMO are mostly used to solve a challenge that cannot be easily curtail through conventionally bred varieties like; fortification for Iron, stem borer resistance and even Fall army worm which I will like to term farmers nightmare here in africa
