It has no status, it doesn't exist. Unlike inertial motion where the velocity can be transformed away by a Lorentz transformation, rotational motion cannot. Einstein's principle would have free-fall cancel the acceleration due to centrifugal forces. That acceleration of a clock relative to an inertial system has no influence on its rate is incorrect. Uniform acceleration also invalidates time dilation, which is a second-order Doppler effect. Viewed in terms of the spatial metric, the centrifugal potential is part of the metric, whereas the gravitational potential has to be introduced by a varying index of refraction.
