Social sustainability is about identifying and managing business impacts, both positive and negative, on people. The quality of a company's relationships and engagement with its stakeholders is critical. Sustainable development” includes three main components: ecological, social, and economic, where the first one should be recognized as the most important. The ecological component is based on the principle of harmonizing our needs with the natural capabilities of the biosphere. The social sustainability integrates are not limited to; health and social equity, human rights, labor rights, practices and decent working conditions, social responsibility and justice
I believe that the social aspect of sustainability focuses on equitable access to resources and services, social justice, and the inclusion of marginalized communities in decision-making processes. Largely, it is about creating a society that is economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable. In the broader sense, the social and environmental components of sustainable development are interrelated and include the following:
1. Social equity: This involves creating a society in which access to resources and opportunities is equitable, regardless of gender, race, religion, or other characteristics. It is about ensuring that all citizens have access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.
2. Environmental protection: This includes preserving natural resources, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and minimizing waste and pollution.
3. Economic development: This involves creating economic opportunities, promoting investment in resilient infrastructure, and developing green technologies.
4. Governance: This involves creating an effective and accountable system of governance that is responsive to the needs of citizens and provides a framework for long-term sustainability.
I believe that environmental and social sustainability encompasses the protection of people's lives and health, the economic basis of their livelihood and their ecological, social and cultural environment as well as the sustainable use of natural resources. The social dimension of sustainable development is concerned primarily with poverty reduction, social investment and the building of safe and caring communities. In addition to clear goals, sustainable development provides guidance as to possible means. Social sustainability performance issues include human rights, fair labor practices, living conditions, health, safety, wellness, diversity, equity, work-life balance, empowerment, community engagement, philanthropy, volunteerism, and more. Social sustainability is about identifying and managing business impacts, both positive and negative, on people. The quality of a company's relationships and engagement with its stakeholders is critical. Conservation of water, land, energy, and nonrenewable resources, including maximum feasible reduction, recovery, and reuse and recycling of waste. Utilization of prevention strategies and appropriate technology to minimize pollution emissions. Use of renewable resources no faster than their rate of renewal. Sustainability focuses on equal economic growth that generates wealth for all, without harming the environment. Investment and an equal distribution of the economic resources will strengthen the other pillars of sustainability for a complete development.
