Whenever there are slight differences in absorption bands of materials, it becomes confusing to distinguish them for me. Can someone help out with this? Thanks.

avoid slight differences in bands.
Preliminary identification should be the strong bands of the functional groups.
FTIR is highly sensible for molecules rather than materials.
So, you need an idea about molecules and the functional groups in them.
