We are doing corrosion analysis for various coatings in 3.5% NaCl solution using an Electrochemical workstation CHE 660. The electrode assembly is consists of Ag/AgCl as a reference, Pt wire as counter, and our coatings as a working electrode. After completion of Tafel testing, the software demands various parameters including no of the electron. Other parameters like density, area make sense. However, what is the significance of no of electrons? What value should be used in all of the below scenarios?

a) Pure metallic coating

b) Alloy coating

c) Composite coatings (Mixture of two powders)

d) Multi coatings (different top and intermediate coating)

Any suggestion or reference to suitable literature will be appreciated.
