We synthesized alumina nanoparticles by algal extract at ambient condition. we recieved TEM images as attached and we are quite sure what exactly nanoparticles shape (needle, bar, spherical or irregular).
From TEM it attributes that the NPs are spherical as most of them are of this shape, but may be due to aggolomeration they seem to be poly disperse type in the image.
I would say they are type of short rods, but in order to confirm I would strongly advice preparing more dispersed sample, by ultrasonicating your particles in MeOH for couple of minutes. Hopefully in this way you will get clearer image.
It looks like short rods which are all fused with one another. Dispersion of the sample under ultrasound irradiation will also not help you to get the individual particles. So, you should change the reaction conditions in order to get the individual particles.
(I can suggest you to go for hard templating method. Especially mesoporous silica can be used to produce the individual nanorods and nanowires)
