Settling time for MPPT alghoritm is starting (i think) based on D%, but youre final results must be P-V or I-V curve which are result of Power curve stage. Depending what you seaching for that s what you get.

Based on my understanding, the settling time is usually defined such way:

After a disturbance, how long time required for the system to reach another balance point. 

In your case, the disturbance could be either the changing of solar array profile (from 0 to whatever you set) or the starting of your MPPT algorithm.

In the later case, the settling time should be from the starting of the algorithm to the time PV output peak power.

Be a bit careful when considering settling time - perhaps you are really talking about  the settling time constant. If your system starts, say, 5% off balance it will 'settle' a lot more quickly than if it starts 75% off balance, even though the settling time constant will be much the same. The the settling time constant is the time the system takes to reduce the degree of off balance by 66% relative; that is, if it starts 50% off balance and takes 3 seconds to get to 17% off balance, the settling time constant is 3 seconds. It will still take 3 seconds to get from 5% off balance to 1.7% off balance (assuming the response is generally linear.)

welcome, i would like to add to the colleagues above some interpretation of your results concerning the maximum power point tracking. The figure of the duty ratio D shows that D is made to increase linearly from zero to .35 starting from 2.9 s. the increase up to 4.2 s would not affect any change in the power drawn from the pv array. First at this time the converter starts drawing power from the module and by continued D increase the power will reach its maximum at D= about 35 percent. So, i can not understand why starts at an offset time of 2.9sec? The second point you can shorten the time needed for tracking if you start D at the value corresponding to the onset of appreciable power. You need some modifications in the tracing algorithm to shorten the tracking time. which is the time from starting D increase until the maximum power is reached.

I would tend to agree with Prof. Zekry, that there are a few issues with the traces that could require some clarification.

Further, what exactly do you imply by settling time of MPPT ? Settling time from startup, or settling time after a small change (perturbation) ? The answer, as Wang says, would depend on the interpretation.

It is clear that I want to determine the settling time from the starting of the system.

But I don't know what start I want to determine from exactly (MPPT algor. or Ppv curve)

Settling time in MPPT –

The settling time of the MPPT of pv voltage changes with environmental perturbations. Hence, classical linear controllers are not able to guarantee the same settling time for any irradiance value; therefore, Ta must be designed exhibited by the system to avoid instability.

Here we can take following two cases of settling time (ts)for MPPT i.e

(i) In the first case (Ta=0.1 ms) t s > Ta, therefore the P&O measures the PV power when the PV voltage is not stable, which drives the P&O algorithm to take wrong decisions, it making the system unstable. [ Ta = sampling time]

(ii) Instead, with Ta=1 ms and Ta=2 ms the condition t s < Ta holds, therefore the system is stable. [ Ta = sampling time]

A constant settling time for the PV voltage shorter than the classical controllers worst case, which in turn improves the power extraction by reducing the dynamic power losses based on the above conditions of settling time.

I am designing a dual PV tracking system (sun tracking + MPPT). When starting the system, the MPPT cannot work until the PV panel is in the required position. The settling time of the sun tracking  is approx. 2.9 sec, which is the delay mentioned above. 

We did not realise you had a steered array! So the settling time contains yet another variable, the time for the array to align to the sun. I suspect that the array is a concentrator, too, because you don't get any power from the sun until it is aligned correctly, while a steered flat collector would give power much before that.
