The folk high schools have their roots in the Nordic democratic and religious people movements of the 19th century. How do we define their role in Nordic society today? How can the democratic and religious values from the folk high school founders be present in the schools today? How are these values needed in Nordic education?

I have not done specific research in folk high schools but I certainly appreciate such schools. I can the values of the latter being relevant to "indigenizing" our school or higher education curricular for 21st Century teaching and learning. The attached is an example of the challenge we face in overlooking such multicultural values in education, which I hope you have useful to your question.

My activity right now is closely connected to Adult education center. I am implementing main findings of my Ph.D. project into practice. And it really works! :) Folk high school is a good example of value-oriented learning. This is what we miss nowadays a lot.
