phylogeny is simply related to how the diversity occurs. the variation within in the cluster is affected by how the species inside changed or sustained. yet, the phylogeny can be treated not only to explain how the current biodiversity occurs in current situation but it also functions as prediction factors of future diversity. the sustained diversity today can ensure the diversity in the future since genetic richness tends to guarantee the evolution to happen in uncertain condition in the future. related to biodiversity conservation, phylogenetic diversity is often used to express the abundance and richness of some population, after that the condition of the expressed value can be used to state the biodiversity and conservation method based on projected change in the future.

A phylogeny (or a tree of life) is a theory about how organisms are related to one another through evolutionary time. Phylogenies are based on the assumption that more closely related species will be more similar to one another, and they are commonly built using genetic sequences or physical characters. They are often visually represented as trees: the tips of the ever branching tree representing species, and the branches representing ‘evolutionary distance’ (e.g. length of time) from the ancestors from which they evolved.

The tools intersect species occurrence data with environmental layers and phylogenetic trees, enabling a variety of new perspectives on biodiversity. For example, you can investigate the environmental envelopes occupied by the species of any chosen clade (a group of related organisms sharing a common ancestral node). You can also measure and compare biodiversity for any given area/s in ways that account for both the number of species occurring there, and their evolutionary distinctness from one another, using phylogenetic diversity. The tools will also allow you to map the spatial distribution of characters (e.g. waxy leaves) across the landscape.

phylogeny describes the evolutionary relationships among organisms while biodiversity describes the variety of life forms on earth. we can link this to biogenesis which describes the production of new species by living organisms. historically and conceptually phylogeny have a major role in biodiversity for example information on evolutionary relationships among species provides understanding of why biodiversity varies within and across localities. it also relates species richness which is a part of the evolutionary diversity in communities. it also brings "speciation' into play. phylogeny provides evolutionary inform on adaptation which is very important in conservation.

In my view, as debatable and subject to criticism as any other, phylogeny is nothing more than the evolutionary imprint of living beings. Phylogeny is the way in which one of the most important processes of life, evolution, is identified after it happened. A real but not material component, but a computer of life itself. In the nineteenth century Hegel in his dialectic showed that everything in the universe is in constant movement, and therefore in constant change. Within the framework of this theory Engels, in the same century, elaborated the theory of development, which can be interpreted as a general theory of evolution tending to the appearance of increasingly complex systems. According to this theory, the general evolutionary model is helical. The dichotomous evolutionary model identified in living beings seems to be an exception. This model has been identified from the study of phylogenies. Although without space to discuss, I can say that identifying the phylogeny for each taxon, regardless of the category, is one of the most powerful tools for knowing the sequence of planetary processes. That makes phylogeny an essential element to shape the future of life from what has happened, although so far very little has been used for these purposes

A conservation initiative that is both explicitly and implicitly rooted in phylogenetic analyses in the EDGE (Evolutionarily Distinct and Globally Endangered) Program headed up by the Zoological Society of London (ZSL). Where two species might each be classified as "Critically Endangered" (CR) on the IUCN "Red Data List", the EDGE perspective would place greater conservation concern on the more phylogenetically distinct taxon. For example, I study lemurs (the entire infraorder Lemuriformes is, basically, of grave conservation concern... the most endangered taxonomic group of mammals in the world) -- take three lemur taxa... any species of the genus Propithecus (the sifakas, all of which are now listed as CR), the indri, the largest living species of lemuriform and also listed as CR (a monospecific genus, Indri indri), and perhaps the strangest primate in the world, the Endangered (EN) aye-aye (Daubentonia madagascariensis, the single species representing a monospecific taxonomic family -- Daubentoniidae). Among these, the EDGE approach would hold the aye-aye of greatest conservation concern because it is the most phylogentically distinct member of the entire infraorder Lemuriformes -- if the aye-aye were to go extinct we would lose an entire primate family. The indri would be ranked of the next greatest conservation concern because it is a monspecific genus -- were it to be come extinct we would lose the genus indri, but not the family Indriidae (which, besides the indri, also includes the 10 recognized sifaka (Propithecus) species and the nocturnal genus Avahi, the woolly lemurs). It's not a fool-proof approach, but shows how phylogeny could contribute to conservation efforts!
