Nutrients help break down food to give organisms energy. They are used in every process of an organism's body. Some of the processes are growth repair and maintaining life. Plants and other autotrophs absorb nutrients from soil and water. The movement of energy and inorganic nutrient in the ecosystem is from producer to the last consumer. The energy and inorganic nutrient move from the green plant, i.e., producer, to the consumer. The food chain and food web mediate it.
