We often collect data in a local or national language but report the findings in English or in any other language. In such cases, I wonder about the trustworthiness of the findings! Need your input please!
In terms of reporting your results, you could easily include excerpts from your data in both languages.
In terms of data analysis, there is a way to ensure the trustworthiness of your translations known as "back translation" (Merriam & Tisdell, 2016). Essentially, this process requires that a non-participant bilingual collaborator ‘reverse’ your translations from English back to the original language to verify the quality of the translations. If there are glaring errors, then you must take a closer look at your translations.
