The role of ethics is very important when conducting my research. In cases where I have dealt with human subjects, ethics starts as early as the conception of the research. From there comes the ethical considerations and how to tackle them at each stage of the research. From the sampling of the human subjects, right through to the questions I ask, as well as the interpretation of the data.
Ethics ensures fair treatment of my research subjects/participants. It also ensures that the participants in the research study gets the maximum benefits of the research outcome. It also ensures the participants are not harmed or minimizes the risks associated with the research participation.
In my research, ethics plays role not only as the bundles of norms but also as means of achieving the highest goal of life (liberation), although it is one of the highest values a human can attain. I am not limiting ethical values for the sake of achieving other secular values within the circumference conditioned by the society or government. One should limit him/herself with the preconditioned state in which follow/practice/adopt the ethical values without any expectations such as praises or rewards.
